Australian job scam warning: do not let promises of easy, highly paid work lead to debts of hundreds of millions of dong

Invitations to go to Australia to work on farms with attractive salaries are continuing to appear on social networks. However, a new VTV report has shown that workers need to be especially careful before applying or transferring money to any unit.

According to the report of... VTV on 03/09/2026, many people have filed from 100 million to over 300 million VND for a business with the expectation of working in Australia on farms, but so far has not been able to leave. The initial statistics were 200 people reported related to the incident.

🇦🇺 What is the current Australian Farm-to-Farm Program?

This is information workers especially need to keep in mind.

Theo Department of Overseas Labor Management, bringing workers to Australia to work on farms under the cooperation program between Vietnam and Australia suspended from December 2025.

Notably, according to VTV information quoted the leadership of the Department of Overseas Labor Management, There are currently no businesses in Vietnam that are recruited for this program..

So, if at the present time the employee is advertised by an individual or organization:

🇦🇺 “Going to Australia to farm”
💰 “ Salary 70 – 80 million / month”
✈️ “Cash is definitely gone”
“No need English, no need financial proof”

then... Do not rush to believe and absolutely do not transfer money before fully verifying the legality of the program.

⚠️ What signs can indicate that you are in front of a suspicious invitation?

1. Commitment to very high salary but vague job information

Some advertisements focus on attractive income figures but do not provide sufficient information about:

  • Name of the employer in Australia;
  • - The working place;
  • - The job position;
  • - The number of working hours;
  • - The basic wage level and the method of calculating the overtime;
  • - The labor contract;
  • Visa conditions.

A legitimate job offer should have specific information for workers to verify, not just promises of income.

2. “Bean bag”, “visa bag”, “commitment to exit”

This is a sign to be especially vigilant.

No one can turn an application or visa process into a solid result just by commitment.

If consulted in the following manner:

❌ “Close enough money to be sure"
❌ “The company takes care of everything, no conditions are needed"
❌ “Passed the recruitment round”
❌ “Bao visa 100%.”

Ask the unit to explain. legal bases and formal process.

3. Request for large amount transfer from the beginning

In the case reported by VTV, someone said he had to pay a huge amount of money to make a dossier to Australia. A case mentioned by VTV said he was consulted for fees up to 300 million VND, the same promise of a salary of about 82 million VND/month.

Here's a very clear warning:

Do n't borrow money, pledge property, or transfer hundreds of millions of dollars based on a promise to Australia.

Before payment, verification is required:

  • Who is the collecting unit?
  • Is it allowed to provide services or recruit workers?
  • What's the fee for that?
  • Is there a valid contract and invoice?
  • How are the refund conditions set out?
  • Is the program really being implemented?

🔎 What should workers check before signing up?

Before any offer to work in Australia, do at least 5 Steps Testing:

1️⃣ Check the program

What is the name of the program? Is it being implemented?

2️⃣ Check the recruitment unit

Which companies in Australia are recruiting? Where are the actual jobs?

3️⃣ Check your visa

What kind of visa is this? Who is the applicant? What are the specific conditions?

4️⃣ Check the contract

Read your employment contract, salary, length of employment, benefits, costs, and termination conditions carefully.

5️⃣ Check the consultant/recruiter in Vietnam

Do not check only fanpages, TikTok or Zalo. It is necessary to verify the legal status, scope of operation and the right to provide related services.

🇦🇺 Is every opportunity to work in Australia a scam?

No.

Australia still has many visa programs and legal avenues for skilled, skilled or otherwise qualified workers.

The important thing is to... distinguish between a legitimate program being implemented and recruitment offers that have no legal basis.

In particular, workers should not equate:

“Have the opportunity to work in Australia”
with
“Any online job offer to Australia is a real opportunity”
