Study in Japan

Plan your Japanese study route around language readiness and academic goals. Distinguish language schools, specialised training colleges and degree programmes.

Plan your study pathwayExplore articles

Choose the teaching language

Check whether the course is taught in Japanese or English. If starting at a language school, plan the next stage separately; admission there does not guarantee a later place on a degree programme.

Check admissions

Verify academic, Japanese, English and EJU requirements where applicable. Work backwards from the intended intake to schedule documents and examinations. JASSO explains institution types and relevant tests.

Budget and funding

Plan in JPY for tuition, admission fees, accommodation and living expenses. Check current MEXT, JASSO and institutional scholarship calls. Build a funding plan without assuming a scholarship or immediate part-time income.
