
Requirements for study visa in New Zealand

To apply for a visa, you must have the following documents available:
- A valid passport must be valid for at least three months after your stay in New Zealand
- Letter of acceptance from the New Zealand educational institution stating the duration of the course, the total tuition fee and whether the tuition fee is in local or foreign currency. The course must be approved by the New Zealand Education Quality Assurance Agency (NZQA)
You may also need to prepare additional documents such as:

- Documents to prepare for studying such as transcripts, diplomas, degrees, or certificates
- Current Application Form – Student Visa Application Form
- Accurate Visa Application Fee
- Tuition receipt showing payment up to the present time
- Evidence that you have sufficient funds to cover your living expenses during your stay. You will need to prove you have NZ$15,000 for a full year of study or NZ$1.250 per month. This includes:
- Bank account statement
- The sponsor's financial commitment to cover the cost of accommodation and living
- A scholarship program
- Evidence that you will leave New Zealand after completing the course. This can be in the form of a flight ticket, however it is not required.
- A criminal record if you are 17 years of age or older and plan to study for more than 24 months. A criminal record is a document used as proof of good character.
- A certificate of chest x-ray – you will need to have a chest x-ray if you plan to stay in New Zealand for more than 6 months, or if you are a citizen of a country with a relatively high TB incidence, or if you have spent more than 3 months in the past 5 years in a country with a relatively high TB incidence
