Translation is an activity that involves interpreting the meaning of a passage in a certain text - the source text - and converting it into another language into a new and equivalent passage - the translation. While the translation - oral translation - has facilitated oral communication or sign language between users of different languages, born before writing, translation only began after the literature recorded in writing had developed Epic of Gilgamesh of the Sumerians into the Southwest Asian languages already existing by the second millennium BC.
Due to the difficulty of translation, since the 1940s, engineers have sought to automate translation or use computer assistance for translators. The rise of the Internet has promoted a global market for translation services and has facilitated the localization of languages.
However, machines cannot replace human creativity and flexibility. To have a good translation, the translator needs to meet three factors:
- Good command of Vietnamese language.
- Good at translation.
- Understanding of the field of translation, especially the translation of technical documents.
