Quality Assurance
For over 20 years Australia has led the world in establishing systems and processes to ensure international students receive the high quality of education they expect. These standards include:
- The Law on Educational Services for International Students (ESOS(opens in a new window)), which was first established in 2000, protects the registration process of schools and their obligations to you throughout the application process.
- It also includes Tuition Protection Service(opens in a new window) help you secure a refund in the rare case that your provider cannot continue to offer the course to you anymore.
- Quality Control Agency for Education and Vocational Training (CCET)ASQA(opens in a new window)) is the nation's regulatory apparatus for Australia's department of vocational education and training. The Occupational Education and Training Authority controls courses and schools to ensure quality standards.
- University Education Quality and Standards Authority (HUST)TEQSA(opens in a new window)) regulates and ensures the quality of Australia's graduate education sector. This body undertakes compliance and quality assessments.

International Students Appreciate Australia
In 2012, the Australian government, in collaboration with top education authorities and state/territory education ministries, directed an investigation of current international students to gather information about their lives and learning experiences in Australia. Key elements of the investigation included:
- 87% of international students responded as ‘Satisfied' or ‘Very satisfied' with their overall experience in Australia.
- 86% of international students answered ‘satisfied' or ‘very satisfied' with their study experience in Australia
- 88% of international students answered that they were ‘satisfied' or ‘very satisfied' with life in Australia.

Australia has a long and proud tradition of world-class research and development that brings millions of benefits worldwide. From the discovery of penicillin in 1945 and the discovery of immune tolerance in 1960, to the ability to observe what led to the discovery of the cosmic accelerator in 2011. Australia has a proud record of contributing to the world's benefits:
- Through the Australian Aid Initiative, A$2.9 billion will be invested over the next five years to raise research funds to stimulate economic and scientific innovation.
- Australia has invested over A$140 million to recruit world-class researchers to Australia through the Commonwealth Scholarship.
- 35 Special Research Centres and Key Teaching and Research Centres have been established at Australian universities to ensure high level research, and offer a diverse range of undergraduate, graduate and professional education courses specialising in diverse fields
- Australia has established 63 Collaborative Research Centres promoting collaborative research between universities and private industry.
With around 50,000 people in the complex postgraduate training institutions in Research and Development (R&D) Australia has strong research and development (R&D) capabilities. The world-renowned Federal Registry for Schools and Courses for Overseas Students (CSIRO), the largest government research and development body in Australia, is one of the world's largest and most diverse research institutions. It covers over 740 research activities with institutions and scientific bodies in more than 80 countries and undertakes research in areas such as health, agricultural business, information technology, manufacturing, sustainable energy, mining and minerals, aerospace, the environment and natural resources.
