How much does it cost to study in Japan???

According to recent statistics, studying in Japan is becoming a trend for all young people who have graduated from high school, college or university.   • Living expenses

According to the Japanese government organization JASSO (Japanese Society for Services for International and Japanese Students), the average monthly cost of living in Japan is as follows:

  • Kyushu: 82,000 yen (about 702 USD)
  • Chugoku: 74,000 yen (about 634USD)
  • Shikoku: 73,000 yen (about 627 USD)
  • Kinki: 86,000 yen (about 737 USD)
  • Chubu: 79,000 yen (677 USD)
  • Kanto: 94,000 yen (about 805 USD)
  • Tohoku: 76,000 yen (about 652 USD)
  • Hokkaido: 81,000 yen (about 695 USD).
  • Meal expenses

The cost of food will fall around 20,000 yen. If you cook by yourself, the cost will be somewhat reduced ranging from 15,000 yen / month to 180,000 yen / year.

  • Accommodation costs

When you rent a private house, there will be additional costs such as :

  • Deposit, thank you money, referral fee, electricity bill about 5,000 yen/month
  • Water fee about 2,000 yen per month
  • Gas fee about 1,000 yen/month
  • Internet fee about 2,000 yen/month
  • Other expenses :

In general, the cost of living in different regions of Japan is not too large. For example, if you live in big cities such as Tokyo or Osaka, your cost of living will be about 70,000 – 90,000 yen / month, in other cities this cost will be about 20% – 30% cheaper.
